Looks like I now have an unlocked iPhone 4.

Congratulations to the iPhone Dev-Team for accomplishing this in such short time. Hopefully, the unlock will be publicly available shortly after comex releases his jailbreak for iOS 4.

This comes only one day after MuscleNerd announced that the Dev-Team had a final step to complete after they achieved full i4 bars with custom “steve” background task spitting out “One more thing”.

iPhone Dev Team announced just a few minutes back that they were working hard to release tools to jailbreak and unlock iOS 4 and had warned users who relied on software method to unlock iPhone to avoid upgrading to iOS 4 until they have tested their tools with all relevant devices.

But they have just released the latest version of Ultrasn0w, their software solution to unlock all basebands since iPhone OS 3.0 including baseband 05.13.04 that comes bundled with iOS 4.

Have you ever wanted to make a backup of your data, but iTunes wasn’t around? Then iBye is the application for all your data needs. iBye will backup your data and store that data on a FTP server of your choosing. iBye will restore this data from the backup on that FTP server as well.

If you do not want to use a FTP server, then iBye will do a local backup and local restore on the iDevice itself. iBye has the functionality to remove all the data from the desired application of your choosing. If you feel removing all the data is not the way to go, then how about locking the deletion of data? iBye can also lock the deletion of data from happening.

If you do not have a FTP server, you can just use iBye’s built in web server to download and upload your backup files

iBye supports Notes, Mail, Calendar, Photos, Address Book, Safari, and the syslog.

iBye’s FTP connection supports EDGE, 3G, and WiFi.

New iPhone beta is out, and nothing new except bug fixes. Same things as the the last beta, but seems much more stable. The camera app is fixed and actually saving photos. No Baseband update; still at 5.13!

A couple of the new things that we have noticed are:

• Location services has a list of apps and says within the last 24 hours.
• An new animation on the unlock screen, kind of a two step lighting of the back light
• New additions to the Xcode beta. A list of items from the iPad firmware 3.2 are now include in iPhone 4.0.
• Devs will be allowed to access the Message.app from with their apps (hopefully this will cause a QuickSMS type app)
• Mentions of the QuickView that was mentioned slightly at the keynote. It will not be a quickView like Mac OS 10.5, but more a quick peek at files shared between apps
• Portrait orientation lock is now present in the Quick Launch bar, when you scroll to the left, where you can also find iPod controls.

All in all the new OS is beginning to have a more finished look and feel, so a summer release is a definite possibility.

MuscleNerd has hacked his iPad 3G to provide native (but primitive) SMS.

This was sent using a raw AT+CMGS command sent to the iPad baseband. That’s because so far, MobileSMS.app from the iPhone doesn’t run properly on the iPad.

This iPad is using a T-Mobile SIM cut down into microSIM size. The AT&T plan attached to the SIM that came with the iPad isn’t allowing SMS messages.
